چکیده
Abstract The sustainability of an agricultural field is largely influenced by crop growth habit and management practices such as tillage. Both strongly interact to shape ecosystem properties the fluxes stocks carbon nitrogen. Recently, researchers have worked develop perennial grain crops in order enhance key processes, cycling nitrogen fixation, with use rather than traditionally used annual crops. In this study, we aimed understand how soil disturbance combined vegetation type [annual monoculture vs. monocultures (intermediate wheatgrass (IWG)) vs restored native (RNV)] dynamics. We collected samples at two depths (0–15 cm 15–30 cm) from each treatment incubated soils laboratory for 120 days determine efflux also analyzed mineralization both results demonstrated IWG had greatest flux, well storage (annual < RNV IWG). differences were 27, 40, 20%, respectively, while was 11, 20, 10%. Shallow exhibited greater all C N comparisons between treatments compared deeper samples. Taken together, our findings indicate that depth influence

Soil Carbon and Nitrogen Fractions and Crop Yields Affected by Residue Placement and Crop Types
Soil labile C and N fractions can change rapidly in response to management practices compared to non-labile fractions. High variability in soil properties in the field, however, results in nonresponse to management practices on these parameters. We evaluated the effects of residue placement (surface application [or simulated no-tillage] and incorporation into the soil [or simulated conventional...
متن کاملThe Effect of Land use and Soil Erosion on Soil Organic Carbon and Nitrogen Stock
Soil organic carbon (SOC) is a principal component in soil quality assessment. Knowledge of SOC and total nitrogen (TN) stocks are important keys to understand the role of SOC in the global carbon cycle and, as a result, in the mitigation of global greenhouse effects. SOC and TN stocks are functions of the SOC concentration and the bulk density of the soil that are prone to changes, influe...
متن کاملImpacts of different tillage practices on some soil microbiological properties and crop yield under semi-arid Mediterranean conditions
Effects of six tillage practices on some soil microbiological properties and crop yields were evaluated for a clay soil (Typic Haploxererts) under semi-arid Mediterranean conditions in a three year study (2006-2009). The experiment was designed as a completely randomized-block with three replications. Treatments were: conventional tillage with residue incorporated (CT1), conventional tillage wi...
متن کاملTillage and Crop Rotation Effects on Dryland Soil and Residue Carbon and Nitrogen
Sustainable management practices are needed to enhance soil productivity in degraded dryland soils in the northern Great Plains. We examined the effects of two tillage practices [conventional till (CT) and no-till (NT)], five crop rotations [continuous spring wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) (CW), spring wheat-fallow (W-F), spring wheat-lentil (Lens culinaris Medic.) (W-L), spring wheat-spring whea...
متن کاملSoil Carbon and Nitrogen Stocks of Different Hawaiian Sugarcane Cultivars
s: Sugarcane has been widely used as a biofuel crop due to its high biological productivity, ease of conversion to ethanol, and its relatively high potential for greenhouse gas reduction and lower environmental impacts relative to other derived biofuels from traditional agronomic crops. In this investigation, we studied four sugarcane cultivars (H-65-7052, H-78-3567, H-86-3792 and H-87-4319) gr...
